PRODUCTION DIARY
|
On Wednesday the 27th of March a group of us from media went down to Penrith leisure center to film the Cumbria school games event. This event was where children from different schools across Cumbria come together and compete in different sport events, we were asked to film the event for promotional purposes, when I got asked to help out I was very eager to help as I have always loved sport and want to get involved with as many opportunities as I can. We filmed many of the activities that took part during the day and me and Connor paired up and I recorded audio while he filmed. Also I got asked to dress up as the mascot for the event to entertain the young children which was a new experience but was actually a lot of fun! Overall I had a great day filming, it was a good opportunity that I'm happy I took, I hope many more opportunities like these come up that I can take part in.

Me and my friend Dan are starting our own Podcast talk show called "Life hacks with Holly And Dan" we will upload the videos to our Youtube channel. I wanted to start this talk show because i am very passionate about Tv and radio presenting as that is the career path i would like to take, so i thought this was a great place to start. We will be covering many topics such as positivity, leaving school, exams, friendships and are accepting questions about general life. In our groups for the genre project, we got asked questions about how well we thought we worked together, how well production was carried out and overall how happy we were with our final outcome for our coming of age drama trailer. On Sunday the 18th of November me and my friend Alex went to a film talk at Tullie House in Carlisle Cumbria, presented by Lyndsey Walker. It was really interesting to get film making tips from a experienced film makers point of view.
On Monday the 19th of November we had a studio induction day. We learnt about the health and safety behind being in the studio. We also got taught many different roles that there is behind Tv production, from camera operation to switcher. My first role was camera operation, i learnt that if the camera how green lines that meant it was in focus, you can see the green lines in the first photo below. I liked camera operation however there is a lot of pressure as you are filming what everyone will see, also i prefer being infront of the camera to behind them. My next role was assistant director which i really enjoyed, this meant i was in charge of helping the director make sure all cameras were in focus, and switching screens, this is a important role as if something wasn't right and the director missed it, i could quickly be there to help so that there is less chance of any mistakes.
On Saturday the 29th of September Cumbria pride was taking part in Carlisle city centre and the main event was on Brampton road, Carlisle. The second year media students and all of the media team were there filming and live steaming the event and I was lucky enough to take part and be aloud backstage to see where everything was controlled. My tutors showed me how everything worked such as how the ATEM worked, this is vision mixer and shows what the cameras are looking at. I also was aloud to be in charge of the live stream running on Facebook, I had the make sure the live stream didn't lose connection and that the audio was sounding good for all our viewers. I had so much fun taking part and can’t wait to be involved in more filming event.
